$2,600.00

Yellow Rosella / The Honourable Member

131cm x 84cm

Formally the artwork references a poster, image and text combine to deliver a message. The images in this series of artworks come from my collection of found 1960’s offset litho prints. The text and typography is half of ‘It’s time’ the logo for the historically significant 1972 general election campaign. The source materials and medium of delivery, hand screen printing, frame the work emotionally in another time, stirring memories from our unique lived experiences.

Technically the 1960’s were the golden age of screen printing. The knowledge, skills, materials, education and technical support available back then delivered a fidelity of print that can never be repeated. As with analog recordings & audio equipment we’ve chosen to give up some quality in exchange for greater choice.

In this work the Rosella was found slightly off register which I’ve chosen to exaggerate. And I’ve blown-up the half tone dots and changed to angles to help reveal the image construction.
