The Garden
A unique opportunity to create your own botanical screen prints using the studios direct exposure technique. We developed the technique to record plants by creating screens using actual foliage & flowers as a source materials.
Our technique is an adaptation of botanist Anna Atkins no lens photography experiments from the 19th Century.
You’ll be asked to bring your own plant materials, perhaps something from your own garden, perhaps a significant tree, brought from a special place or simply chosen because the leaves have an interesting silhouette. We’ll work with you to explore what to bring,
In the afternoon you’ll be introduced to a range of hands on printing techniques and supported by studio artists and printers to create a collection of your own botanical prints. You’ll also be able to choose from a wide range of materials to print onto.
