Zero Waste Flag + Save Me exhibition
SAVE ME announced the beginning of Spacecraft’s exhibition programme dedicated to research processes, collaboration and the exchange of ideas. Created in opposition to senseless consumption, the work applies ideas to surplus, forgotten and abandoned materials using techniques and skills to imagine a new aesthetic. The finished artworks give new meaning to each object, celebrating the materials, the original makers skills and the transformative and regenerative power of contemporary hand-made. Many of the works use mineral pigments created from foraged materials; charcoal, bricks, iron powder, terracotta… while the patchwork quilts and cushions draw on our archive of fabric offcuts and backing cloth fragments.
